DAILY PROGRAM
Day 1: ARRIVAL
Arrival at Venice airport, welcome by our English speaking tour leader and coach transfer to Lido di Jesolo. Accommodation in a 3* sup. hotel such as Hotel Al Mare or Hotel Grottamare, or similar. Welcome drink. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: VENICE
After breakfast, departure by coach for a daily excursion with our tour leader. In the morning, coach transfer to Mestre Tronchetto pier, then crossing by scheduled “vaporetto” along the Grand Canal with unforgettable views of the famous palaces and under the Rialto Bridge. Arrival in Piazza San Marco, meeting with your guide and guided tour (half-day) of the City of the Doges. Walking through the lanes and bridges of the Serenissima you’ll discover the most famous monuments and places of Venice: Piazza San Marco and its majestic Basilica, the Doge’s Palace, and the suggestive canals. Lunch in a typical restaurant in the centre with a Venetian menu. Afternoon free for a personal discovery of the city. Back to the hotel by private boat and by bus, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: LAGOON ISLANDS
After breakfast, departure by coach for a daily excursion with our tour leader. In the morning, coach transfer to Punta Sabbioni pier, and departure by private boat for a visit to the two islands of the lagoon: Murano and Burano. Murano, the largest of the Lagoon Island, is known all over the world for its glassworks. Then stop in Burano, fishing village famous for the lace shops and its houses with colorful facades. Free time for lunch (not included). Finally, possibility to visit the island of Torcello (the third island of the lagoon), or just return to the center of Venice and late afternoon free. Back to the hotel by private boat and by bus, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: VERONA - SIRMIONE - BERGAMO
After breakfast, departure by coach for a daily excursion with our tour leader. In the morning, road to Verona, Venetian architectural jewel, located on the banks of the Adige river. Guided visit (half day) of this magnificent city which has kept the authenticity of its thousand-year-old history. Walking through the centre you will admire its splendid buildings (external view), such as the Church of Sant'Anastasia, the Cathedral and Basilica of San Zeno, the Arena, the famous 1st century Roman amphitheatre, and the House of Juliet with its famous balcony evoking the tragedy of Shakespeare. Then drive to Sirmione, a peninsula located in the south of Garda Lake. Free time for lunch (not included). Afternoon dedicated to the discovery of this pretty village, renowned for its thermal waters and spectacular panorama. Passing by the medieval castle Scaligero, you will reach the heart of the village in Piazza Carducci, where you will find Palazzo Callas, an eighteenth century palace dedicated to the soprano Maria Callas, and a beautiful park of the same name nestled in nature. At the end of the day, departure for Bergamo. Accommodation in a 4* hotel such as Hotel Airport in Bergamo, or similar. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: LAKE COMO - BAVENO
After breakfast, departure by coach for a daily excursion with our tour leader. In the morning, road to Lake Como, stop in Varenna and crossing by ferry to Bellagio. Free time for lunch (not included). Then continue by ferry to Cadenabbia and guided visit of Villa Carlotta: a masterpiece of neoclassical art, famous for its marble hall and Italian-style gardens, with a collection of over 500 botanical species. In the late afternoon, road by coach along the shore of the lake towards Lake Maggiore. Arrival in the area of Baveno or Verbania, and accommodation in a 3* sup. Hotel such as Hotel Alpi or Hotel Chiostro, or similar. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: BORROMEAN ISLANDS
After breakfast, departure by coach for a daily excursion with our tour leader. In the morning, boat crossing to the Borromean Islands, real gardens laid on the waters of Lake Maggiore. Stop at the Isola Bella, guided tour of the Borromean Palace, an 18th century palace rich in mosaics, and surrounded by an Italian garden with ten terraces descending to the lake. Then free discovery of the picturesque centre of the Isola dei Pescatori with its small colorful houses. Back to Stresa and free lunch (not included). In the afternoon, excursion to Lake Orta with boat ride to the island of San Giulio, which keeps a small Roman treasure of Early-Christian origin, the basilica of San Giulio. At the end of the day, back to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: MILAN
After breakfast, departure by coach for a daily excursion with our tour leader. In the morning, drive to the centre of Milan and guided tour (half-day) of the city, walking through the most famous places in the center: the Sforza Castle, the beautiful Sempione Park, the famous Teatro alla Scala Opera House (external views), the Gallery of Vittorio Emanuele II, a glass made gallery in Baroque and Neo-classical style, and the characteristic Brera district. Visit of the imposing Duomo, a Gothic cathedral, among the largest in the world. Free time for lunch (not included). Afternoon free to stroll around the centre and do some shopping through the famous streets of the so called “Quadrilatero della moda ", or chance to arrange other visits to important museums, including Michelangelo's “The Last Supper" in the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie (optional, in supplement). Back to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: DEPARTURE
Breakfast and coach transfer to Milan airport with our tour escort. Check-in assistance and end of our services.
The price includes:
• 7 nights accommodation on H/B basis in mentioned 3* sup/4* hotels or similar, in double room
• All dinners excluding beverages
• Welcome drink on the day of arrival
