DAILY PROGRAM
Day 1: ARRIVAL
Arrival at Rome airport, welcome by our English speaking tour leader and coach transfer to the Frascati area. Accommodation in a 3*sup. hotel such as Hotel Villa Ferrata, or similar. Welcome drink. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: ROME - VATICAN CITY
Breakfast at the hotel and departure by coach for a daily excursion with our tour leader. In the morning, guided tour of the ancient Rome, once the metropolis of an empire. The guide will lead you among the monuments that have made the history of the Urbe: the Coliseum, the most emblematic building in Rome, the Roman Forum, the heart of the political life in ancient Rome, and the majestic Arch of Constantine (all external views). Free time for lunch (not included). In the afternoon, road to the Vatican. Guided visit of the Vatican Museums, a complex of twelve museums that gather one of the most beautiful and huge art collections in the world. The long visit to the museums finally reaches the Sistine Chapel, a true artistic treasure of the Vatican: from its ceiling to the altar wall you can contemplate Michelangelo's famous “Last Judgment". Then visit of St. Peter’s Square and the magnificent Basilica, which count two thousand years of the history of the Papal Rome and view of its famous dome, Michelangelo's masterpiece. Back to the hotel by coach, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: BAROQUE ROME - TIVOLI - CASTELLAMMARE
After breakfast, departure by coach for a daily excursion with our tour leader. In the morning, guided tour of the Baroque Rome. Walk among the most famous monuments: the magnificent Trevi Fountain, a masterpiece of late Roman-Baroque, known worldwide for its ritual consisting in throwing a coin into the water, then the spectacular Piazza di Spagna animated by luxury boutiques and ancestral craftsmen. Then external view of the Pantheon, a prestigious temple dedicated to the Roman deities, and Piazza Navona, a triumph of the Baroque style with its three fountains. Continue to Piazza Venezia, with the famous Vittoriano, a white marble monument erected to the glory of Victor-Emmanuel II and Italian unity. Free time for lunch (not included). In the afternoon, road to Tivoli and guided tour of Villa D'Este. This luxurious villa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was commissioned by Cardinal d'Este in 1550. The fountains and water features, caves and statues make it one of the most popular examples of Italian-style gardens in the world. Inside, the rooms of the Palace display Mannerist decorations. Drive to Castellammare. Accommodation in a 3* sup. /4 * hotel such as Hotel Parco or Hotel La Panoramica, or similar. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: CAPRI
After breakfast, departure by coach for a daily excursion with our tour leader. In the morning, coach transfer to reach the port of Castellammare and departure by hydrofoil to Capri, the pearl of the Gulf of Naples. Travel on the island with tourist shuttles. Guided discovery of the two villages: Capri and Anacapri. Walk through the charming lanes of the centre, passing through the famous Piazzetta to the Gardens of Augustus overlooking the Via Krupp, from where you can admire the Faraglioni. Free time for strolling or optional visits. Free lunch during the visit (not included). Back to the port, hydrofoil to Castellammare, and finally coach transfer back to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: GRAGNANO - SORRENTO - AMALFI
After breakfast, departure by coach for a daily excursion with our tour leader. In the morning, visit of a pasta factory in Gragnano, to discover the history and the traditional production techniques of this village, famous all over the world for its cooking tradition. Then drive to Sorrento for a visit to a nearby farm, and small lunch tasting with typical products. In the afternoon, drive to Amalfi. Panoramic stop above Positano and chance to take pictures. At the arrival in Amalfi, free discovery of this ancient Maritime Republic with a look at the imposing Cathedral of St. Andrew, whose architecture bears witness to the imprint of contacts with the East. Back to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: POMPEII - VESUVIUS
Breakfast at the hotel, then departure by coach for a daily excursion with our tour leader. In the morning, guided tour of Pompeii ruins, an old Roman city buried during the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. It is a wonderful testimony to the daily life of the imperial period, preserved in an almost perfect state, lending itself wonderfully to an evocation of the ancient world. Free time for lunch (not included), then drive to Mount Vesuvius. Ascent to 1,000 meters, then possibility to continue on foot up to the crater. Guided tour and descent. Back to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: NAPLES - FRASCATI
After breakfast, departure by coach for a daily excursion with our tour leader. In the morning, guided tour of Naples. Walk among the most famous monuments of the city: Piazza Municipio and Castel Nuovo, also known as “Maschio Angioino", which dominates the entire port city of Naples, the Piazza Plebiscito, one of the most beautiful and large squares in the city, where you will also admire the charming Royal Palace. Then the San Carlo Opera House, the oldest in the world, and the famous Galleria Umberto I. Free time for lunch (not included). In the afternoon, guided tour of the famous Archaeological Museum, one of the richest museums in the world for the knowledge of Greek and Roman antiquity, as it gathers the magnificent collections of mosaics and frescoes from Pompeii and Herculaneum. Among its halls you will also find the Farnese sculptures, mosaics, the halls of the temple of Isis, and many other wonders. At the end of the visit, departure for the area of Frascati. Accommodation in a 3* sup*/4* hotel, such as Park Hotel Villa Ferrata, or similar. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: DEPARTURE
Breakfast at the hotel, then coach transfer to Rome airport with our tour escort. Check-in assistance and end of our services.
